Greetings from one of your Webmasters!

The new spam protection protocols are in place. It might take you through one extra step to post a guest book entry, but bear with us. We must disallow all the SPAM that has been posted to our site recently (Geneva and I have been deleting it daily so you may not even realize it was happening) and the new method we will use will stop most, if not all of it.

Here's what you'll do. POST your guest book entry as usual. An email will be auto-generated back to you for verification. Click the link in the email (cut and paste the link into your browser if the link is not live) to verify that you are NOT an ad or spammer and we'll post your entry. Should only take a few extra seconds to work.

We're in testing mode right now, so there may be a few glitches. Once up and running, I'd love to see our guest book, once again, be an area for sharing and giving a ''holla'' or two.

Geneva and I appreciate your continued support.

Hello to everyone. I was in the class of 1959 a long ways back. Anyone who remembers me when it was Pine Forge Institute can reach me at my e-mail address. God bless and good luck to all.

Hey, hey, hey! Boys and girls, it's almost time for the big 40-year get-together!!!!

Hope you're all planning to make it to alumni weekend this year!

Early on I had decided that I wouldn't be able to attend, but I changed my mind--I can't afford NOT to attend. I missed alumni weekend one year (I think it was 1995), and I just didn't ever see my dear friend Wilma Mitchell again. I'm not thinking that about any of my other friends, but you know, we're not "spring chickens" anymore, although our brains tell us otherwise. So hock that computer, get to stepping, pull out that strained credit card, or whatever it is that you do when you REALLY want to do something, and come to Pine Forge. I'll see you there, fat and fancy!

My Cousin Janet Watkins Wynn told me to take a look at the website and I must say this is a great site. You all look so good at 17 and I am sure you all look as good as you did then. Good luck with your reunion and have fun.

Just heard from Herb Powell last evening (June 16, 2005). He's headed to Pine Forge in a couple of weeks to scope out where we'll be having our luncheon. Hope all '65 class members have gotten their RSVPs in for the Sabbath afternoon luncheon.

Hope you are all looking forward to a wonderful time at Pine Forge, for our 40th year reunion. God bless!

Congratulations to David Cato and Geneva Kitching on this wonderful website. I am just having a ball reminiscing!

Jimmy and I haven't been to Alumni Weekend in years. Couldn't even make the 50th (job interference). After attending the Watson/Winston's family reunion seeing Lloyd, Ersula, their Mom, their sister, Geneva, Melvin Mitchell, Jimmy and Jackie Winston (we were so thrilled) and then viewing old pictures on this website, has really made me/us determined to attend this year. I am getting so excited.

I'm soooooooo proud of my old roommate Cynthia Poole-Gibson. I know she is doing a wonderful job.

We'll see ya there! Hopefully, a few pounds lighter. (smiles)

Guess who Janet and I spoke with today? Richard and Bernadine Bonney! They are still living in Connecticut and have a home in South Carolina. They have 3 children and several grand-children. Bernadine (Class of '67) reports that LuVince Cann (Class of '66)is still living in Bermuda and doing well.

Richard and Bernardine assure us that they will attend the 40th reunion in September.

We are looking forward to seeing them there!

Sharing the same sky,

My joy is beautiful today for I am saved and the Holy Spirit is with me, and I will that you can be touched by Him right now and feel how good the Lord is and how merciful He is even just now. May the Holy Sprit move strong just now among all the Christians and touch them. It is so wonderful feeling His touch and healing. Can you pray for new revival? Blessings--keijo swede

Just checking out the website to see my "adopted" father's high school pictures. This website is awesome. I'm glad that the class of '65 is keeping it together. Hi Brother Hall!

S. Osi

I am jealous! I think you guys from "65" have done a beautiful thing with this web site. I'm thinking that those of us from "62" have to do something like this. It is a great idea and it would be nice if every class could develop something. Maybe you could lay out a template for the rest of us.

Am I talking to Geneva? Who is behind this? Congratulations and best wishes -- Auldwin

Hello fellow mighty '65 classmates! Have YOU sent in your portion of the $100,000 we will give to Pine Forge in August of 2005? Yeah, me neither! But we've got to get focused and start moving toward our goal for the Pines!

And while you're at it, have a cool Yule and a frantic first!

As I looked at all the pictures on this awesome website, a flood of memories came back from my 1965-66 senior (and only) year at The Pines. I can proudly say it was one of the best years of my life. It's been great to keep in touch with former classmates, especially Hubert "Old Head" Washington. This year we'll be celebrating our seventh wedding anniversary.
We're now a blended family with two adult sons and two adult daughters. Our youngest son is serving his country as a Marine in Iraq. Hue and I send our love to all our friends from PFI!

Greetings to the Class of 65 from the "OTHER" class of 66. For those I did not see at this past homecoming, you were missed and I hope to see you next year. A lot of exciting things are going on with our newly formed Foundation, a 501{c}3 legal corporation with the sole purpose of raising funds for PFA.

We have launched the "silent phase" of the "Forging the Future" Capital Campaign. As you know, at homecoming Eldridge presented a challenge to other classes to match the Class of 1965's $100k pledge to help us achieve our aggressive goal of $52M over the next 7 years. Eldridge also gave a hefty personal pledge and we are very grateful for his leadership-by-example.

I am pleased to announce on behalf of our class of '66 president, Bryan (Akil) Marshall that we are answering that challenge with a class pledge of $166,000. Vashti Ashley Myrick is our campaign coordinator and we will start in earnest with our mass mailing campaign to present a check of our annual goal at future homecoming weekends.

As president of the PFA Foundation, let me share with you our status. To date we have collected $708k in pledges and gifts. If we can reach $1M in pledges by November 30, 2004, we have an anonymous match of $2M. That is a 100% return on your investment this year. This would allow us to reach our 2004 goal of $2M in pledges. The Foundation board has pledged $155k to date toward the capital campaign. Also, we have newly established endowment funds and scholarship funds representing a total endowed goal of $176,250. To establish a scholarship or endowment fund you can create one with an initial payment of $250, but it must reach at least $10,000 within 5 years.

One very important endowment fund that we announced at the Homecoming was the creation of the Robert Booker Social and Community Leadership Endowment Fund to recogize one female and one male each year with a $1,000 scholarship each. We plan to endow this fund with a fund balance of $50k in five years. We already have commitments for the Booker funds or pledges in excess of $10,000. I hope you can contribute to your class sponsor's fund. It reflects his wishes and the requirements for recipients are clear. You know he was a strict teacher and mentor. Think about contributing to the Booker Fund or any other open scholarship or endowmment funds we are establishing.

I will make sure that David has all of the forms, which will also be available online, for you to establish you own scholarship, endowment fund "In Honor Of" or "In Memory Of" a special person to you individually or to your class collectively.

The Foundation will shortly launch our website to allow you to stay up to date on major announcements and to give online information. Our new site will be www.pfafoundation.org. I will stay in touch with Cato so he can link our site to the fabulous one he has developed. One other piece of news--I have asked the Foundation board to establish an endowed fund in memory of my hometown friend and buddy, Allan Johnston. It is called the Allan Johnston Music Performance Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide scholarships to students at PFA who excel in music performance. Our goal is to grow the fund to be self-sustaining within five years to reach a fund balance of $12,500 by 2010. Each year a $500 scholarship will be given to an outstanding student in music performance. We plan to present the first scholarship this academic year at graduation for a returning student. Please help us grow this fund so it will generate enough income for the award to be given indefinitely.

I have recently created the Clevelanders for Academic Excellence Endowment Fund. It is geared toward alumni who were raised, lived or relocated to the Greater Cleveland, Ohio area. It will provide a scholarship for a Cleveland student who has a financial need. Our goal is to get this fund to be self-sustaining also. All of you who have ever lived, or were raised in Cleveland, please help us build this student financial assistance fund so we can continue to promote our youth from the inner cities and urban centers to attend school. I encourage all of you who live in urban centers to perhaps think about such a fund in your local communities. As you know, the current Federal Administration has abandoned the inner cities and funding for our public school systems is pitiful!

Lastly, one more piece of news. I hope to work with Janet Watkins Wynn on establishing a Harold Anthony Music Endowment Fund to recognize a graduating senior with a specialized diploma in Music from PFA. Mr. Anthony does not know this yet, so keep it a secret! If anyone else would like to work with me and Janet on this project, please let me know as soon as possible. We would like to surprise him and announce and award the first at this coming graduation in May, 2005.

I will be bringing you some other major announcements at the end of next week. I welcome your help and your suggestions as we move forward. Let's Forge the Future Together".

Cordially,
Melodie '66

Hey all! Just wanted to "shout-out" and let you know I've heard from several of our classmates who've said they're going to attend next year's alumni weekend. I'm hoping all class members will be able to attend. Start saving your pennies now, and the trip will be doable! (smiles) Herb Powell will again do our Sabbath luncheon at The Inn at Reading. Thanks, Herb!

It's wonderful and energizing reading all the many memories shared within our website. I've exchanged a few emails with classmates during the past year and can't begin to describe how important it's been for me personally to reconnect after many years of toil in corporate America. I've recently encouraged my brother to "connect" with his PFA classmates and do the same. Who knows? The momentum may build beyond all our expectations! The institution has the gift of building character in young students; as for me, I am making a personal commitment to give back (John Hall made that decision for me). Thanks, John, for allowing me to be a part of this.

You truly are "THE CLASS OF PFI(Academy). I wish to "GOD" our Class of 64 was as close. I wouldn't take anything for my years @ PFI. I enjoyed so much the pictures Ersula and Geneva shared. I wish someone had pictures when I attended.
God bless your wonderful class and friendship.

I am so proud and thankful for Cynthia Poole-Gibson's appointment as Headmistress of PFA. Cynthia brings experience, education,(30+years in the DC school district) and the glorious traditions of the humble beginnings of Pine Forge Institute. In addition, Cynthia possesses a brilliant progressive mind and pit-bull like tenacity. I applaud the BOD for making an excellent choice and I look forward to assisting Ms. Poole-Gibson in any capacity she deems appropriate: money, time, labor, recruitment, etc.

Let us all take up the banner, support one of our own and reassure her that we stand with her in all of her endeavors as she strives to make Pine Forge Institute (Academy) all that God intends it to be.

Congratulations Ms. Poole!!

What's going on at school these days? I visited the website recently. WHEW! The benefits of rigorous debate aside, I have one question: who is in charge? Where is the Headmaster? Who is the Headmaster? Is there a Headmaster?

Please, someone, tell me...what in world is happening at school?

Even though I'm from the class of 69, I'll never forget the class of 65 because there were so many people from that class who were great influences to my classmates and I. Sam Turner,John Hall, Alan Johnston, Sam Boyington,Raymond,Wayne and Aldwin Humphrey, Brian,Albert and "Bow" are just a few to mention.
I just wish that the 65 Falcons and the 69 Falcons could have played a few games against each other. May God continue to bless Pine Forge.

Dear Friends,

My Mother, Ruth Watson, is celebrating her 80th birthday this year. We are planning a surprise party for her during our family reunion which is being held in June in Atlanta.

If any of you who know my Mother would like to send her birthday greetings please do so by sending them to my e-mail address. They will be included in a book of memories that I am pulling together as a keepsake for her. If you have pictures of your family that you would like to include, that would be great.

Thanks for your thoughtfulness. I appreciate it and look forward to seeing each of you next year at our 40th class reunion!

We were privileged to host the Pine Forge Academy Choir in Indianapolis on March 13th. All I can say, as the old hymn states, We marched to Zion, beautiful, beautiful Zion. The Spirit of the Lord and His angels were present. They were awesome. If they come into your area, please make it your business to go and hear them. Support them. God bless the Music Department. God bless Pine Forge Academy.

I hope my class can get a site up and running like this it is fun reminicing about the 'Forge. - K.Wilder

Cudos to Melody, Auldwin, and the numerous others who worked so diligently on the Capital Campaign and Strategic Plan. It is encouraging to see some of our most talented bringing their expertise and professionalism to the table. GREAT JOB!

Incidently, why aren't more of our classmates signing up on the website and posting some memorabilia that we can all enjoy? Come on folks! Join the conversation.

Saw Virginia Lester at Brinklow Sabbath and she "ragged" me for a $50K contribution. 50K spread over 5 years is very doable and I invite you to join me. Here is my plan (1) solicit my 9 brothers and sisters for $200x5 years each (9000); work 1- 12 hour shift per month x 5 years ( 600x12x5approx 35000)- I only need 4000 more to make my goal. It is very doable - first make the commitment- then with God's help make a plan - then work your plan consistently.

Although I wasn’t a member of the graduating class of 1965, you have been a significant part of my life. Thank you for contributing to who I am today. Many of you have gone on to create material wealth; others, I'm sure, spiritual wealth. I have dedicated mine to my children. The last seven years, in particular have been spent with Mihdi. I didn't graduate with the class of 1965 from PFA, but that is "my" year. My husband was vice principal at PFA during the 2001-2002 school year. You only have to be in the environment for a short time to know that this is God's gift to future generations of African American children - leaders for the future. Please make your committment to give. I am committing to raising $50,000 in the name of my parents who made such a tremendous sacrifice for my own Christian education.

I remind everyone that the road to $100,000 remains long and challenging. If we are determined to be victorious, absolutely nothing will stand in our way. It brought back glorious memories. I am honored to have attended this marvelous place. Even if we are the ONLY class that did not get to go to Oakwood. God's blessings to all of us. We were awesome.

Great site. I am somewhat connected to the class of 1965. My father was the Dean of Boys(Dean Herbert M.Davis). He & Mother now live in Huntsville, AL. I am from the Class of 1978.

Hey Fellow Classmates !!!

I love this. What a wonderful site. I knew this class was awesome. This again proves it. We started the first Pine Forge Alumni meeting at Pine Forge with just our class. Now it is a growing annual meeting for all of the classes. I love you all. I'm sure we all have a lot to share. I'll be looking forward to hearing from all of you.

Dear Class of '65. After 38 years...your energy and enthusiasm for PFI (as affectionately known to you) remains evident. How blessed the school is to have such committed individuals. Mega kudos to Dave, Geneva and all those who "helped birth" this new website. Hope to see you at alumni.

God Bless you!

God is good...we are so blessed....To those of you who prayed for me during my challenged times, I want you to know I felt your prayers....We must do all God has ordained for us to spread the gospel in these last days... be blessed...and tell somebody about Jesus.

Hey! Hey! Hey! At long last, here it is--our very own website! And YES...it did, in fact, go live at EXACTLY 11:58 p.m. EDT on 8.22.03 . . . Enjoy!

Laugh at the pictures in the classmate yearbook pages (excerpted from the complete FLAME) -- the whole thing will be right online in September for download -- you can even print off a copy of the entire thing (oh yes, you KNOW you want to do that!)

Post a shout out. Sign the guestbook. Have fun!
